Gloria Williams - Playwright
Gloria Williams is an Award-winning British Actress and Playwright who is a graduate of The Royal Court Theatre Young Writers Group.
Williams trained at Rose Bruford College and won a scholarship to train at the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan.
Williams was one of the chosen actors to be mentored by Kevin Spacey for The Old Vic Class mentoring scheme.
Whilst studying in New York she did a voiceover for the United Nations HIV/AIDS in Africa campaign alongside Phylicia Rashād and Wyclef Jean which won the Red Ribbon Award.
She wrote and starred in Monday under her Theatre company Freedom Tongues. The play garnered widespread acclaim at International Festivals. Monday was performed at New York's Samuel French Off Broadway One Act Play Festival at The Playwrights Horizons and The Manhattan Repertory Theatre in Times Square. It premiered at The Lost One Act Play Festival at the New End Theatre, London winning 'Best Overall Production' by The Times critic Jeremy Kingston.
Alongside Oscar nominees Sophie Okenedo and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Williams was nominated for the Ogeyinka Merit Award of Excellence.

Ellie's directing credits include: THE WIZARD OF YOUTUBE (Cinematheque, Tel Aviv), NO MORE, SALVATORE and DIG (Old Red Lion, London), MONDAY (New York/London/Edinburgh tour - award-winner of Lost One Act Play Festival), AMERICAN SHORTS (King's Head Theatre), GOD EXPLODES LAUGHING (readings at Oval House Theatre, Blue Elephant Theatre, London).
Ellie completed the Young Director’s Apprentice Programme at the King's Head
Theatre, later returning as an Associate Director for
NO ENTRY. MONDAY is Ellie’s second collaboration with playwright and actress Gloria Williams.
Ellie's assistant directing credits include: SH*T-M*X (Trafalgar Studios, West End, London), CAT'S-PAW (King's Head Theatre, London, A RABBI IN THE ATTIC (Manhattan Rep, New York), TALES FROM MUMBAI (Blue Elephant, London), WHEN FIVE YEARS PASS (Arcola Theatre, London) and taught at
the Rose Bruford Acting Summer School. Ellie's own training at Rose Bruford College included spending
a year in Texas where she directed LOYALTIES. After graduating from her American Theatre Arts degree she went to New York to work for Atlantic Theater Company as their Artistic Intern during the season of the critically acclaimed THE LIUETENANT OF INISHMORE and SPRING AWAKENING! (both transferred to Broadway).
Ellie's film credits include: HAPPINESS IN THE CEMETERY (short), LAST CALL (short) and SITRA ACHRA (short). Ellie studied an MFA in Film and TV at Tel Aviv University (Israel).
